the station during 1920s


a post office opened @ station in 1883. arrival of railway made possible sell fresh milk in capital. slitu developed 1 of largest milk stations along line, sending 3 4 full cars of milk each day. in addition western parts of eidsberg, slitu served farms in trøgstad. caused need better roads , in 1890 , 1891 new 4.5-kilometer (2.8 mi) road built trøgstad. interlocking system installed @ station on 18 may 1962. in use until 17 march 1969, when passing loop removed. station subsequently became unmanned.


with platform short new nsb class 72 trains, norwegian national rail administration required lengthen platform or close station 2015. estimated costs @ 13 million norwegian kroner. slitu had limited patronage, 28 average daily boarding , disembarking passengers in 2008. compared instance 800 @ mysen station. 4 station therefore closed down on line, including next 1 westwards, askim næringspark station. had marked positive effect on ridership @ slitu, parking lot filling , having expanded.
