monticello appeared on reverse of two-dollar bill 1928 1966, when bill discontinued. current bill introduced in 1976 , retains jefferson s portrait on obverse replaced monticello on reverse engraved modified reproduction of john trumbull s painting declaration of independence. gift shop @ monticello hands out two-dollar bills change.
