clemente returned club action after national team dismissal, working in main division real betis, real sociedad, cd tenerife, espanyol second time, one-season spell in ligue 1 olympique de marseille, , athletic bilbao. helped latter avoid relegation in 2005–06 season but, shortly before new campaign started, fired after disagreement chairman fernando lamikiz.
