in 1986, hundreds of third category, low ranking, csf personnel (soldiers) staged four-day mutiny, in egyptian conscription riot. riot reaction spread of false rumours among conscripts (three year) conscription time extended year. insurrection suppressed egyptian army. rampaged through suburb of giza burning hotels , shops in tourist areas. burned dozens of cars , buses. on 20,000 conscripts dismissed service no benefits, , agitators received correctional punishment after being tried before state security court arson, violent riots, , insubordination according penal code. reports related mutiny conspiracy against minister of interior in charge (gen. ahmed roshdy) due policies. after suppression government promised overhaul force raising entry standards, increasing payment , bettering living conditions in camps.
