the entrance building last renovated in 1988/1989. outer facade cleaned , interiors refurbished. 1953, open ticket office space subdivided several work spaces , false ceiling installed. ticket offices occupied part-time during week. toilets not available. there kiosk in lobby. parts of premises used taxi company , town of apolda seminars. marshalling yard, located directly next passenger station on eastern side, has been closed , demolished.

the house platform (next entrance building) 297 metres long , 34 centimetres high. other platform, roofed , surfaced between 1905 , 1908. underpass between both platforms built in 1906. platform between tracks 2 , 3 377 metres long , 55 centimetres high.

between october 2012 , autumn of 2013, station modernised in several phases of construction , upgraded barrier-free access. first, pedestrian underpass rebuilt , platform 1 rebuilt. subsequently, platforms 2 , 3 rebuilt. platforms equipped ramps, lifts, weather shelters , tactile paving. extension of pedestrian underpass created access planned public transport interchange. travel information displayed on passenger information system. costs amounted around €5.5 million.

apolda station has no direct forecourt, entrance road, connects turning loop bahnhofstraße. last renovated in 1989 on occasion of 100th anniversary of station. left , right side of road used paid parking, bus stop , taxistand. further entrance street , station possible via staircase built in 1934 out of ehringsdorf kalksandstein (brick made sand , calcium silicate hydrate).

modernisation of station environment

in 2014, municipality of apolda, in cooperation deutsche bahn, established park-and-ride parking lot on former railway track north of station. there car , bus parking areas bus stop. platform underpass extended connect platform new parking spaces. symbolic groundbreaking ceremony took place on grounds of former freight station on 29 february 2012.
