kanda festival (kanda matsuri) 1 of 3 major shinto festivals of tokyo, started in 1600 tokugawa ieyasu celebrate decisive victory @ battle of sekigahara. @ time, festival important enough named state festival, , highly decorated mikoshi paraded down main streets , edo castle, shogun observe celebrations. today, held in honor of enshrined kami, , celebrated around may 15 of every odd year.
