the site of roman falerii entirely abandoned. lay upon road may have been via annia, by-road of via cassia; road approached south passing through nepet, while prolongation north bore name via amerina. circuit of city 2000 m, shape triangular, , walls remarkably fine , well-preserved specimen of roman military architecture.

the roman town lay 5 kilometers farther north-west on via annia. via flaminia, did not traverse etruscan city, had 2 post-stations near it, aquaviva, 4 km southeast, , aequum faliscum, around 6 kilometers north-north-east; latter possibly identical etruscan site george dennis identified fescennia. there 80 towers, 50 of still preserved. 2 of gates also, of there eight, noteworthy. of buildings within walls hardly preserved above ground, though forum , theatre (as amphitheatre, arena of measured 55 33 meters outside walls) excavated in 19th century. edifice standing late 12th-century abbey church of s. maria, built monks savoy. excavations undertaken in late 19th , 20th century indicated plan of whole city recovered, though buildings have suffered considerable devastation.
