m. browni, m. harriesi, , m. schwarzi found in upper elliot formation of cape province, south africa. 3 based on fragmentary material, , regarded indeterminate in recent review. m. browni based on 2 cervical, 2 back, , 3 caudal vertebrae , miscellaneous hind limb elements. m. harriesi known well-preserved forelimb , parts of hindlimb. m. schwarzi known incomplete hind limb , sacrum. m. hislopi , m. rawesi named fossils found in india. m. hislopi based on vertebrae upper triassic maleri formation of andhra pradesh, whereas m. rawesi based on tooth upper cretaceous takli formation of maharashtra. m. hislopi tentatively retained indeterminate sauropodomorph in latest review, m. rawesi may theropod or nondinosaur. m. huenei combination derived cooper lufengosaurus huenei, considered lufengosaurus , massospondylus synonyms. synonymy no longer accepted.


m. kaalae described in 2009 on basis of partial skull upper elliot formation in eastern cape of south africa. species known same time , region specimens of m. carinatus. differs type species in morphology of braincase, in several other characters of skull such proportions of premaxilla.
