there 2 types of neuro-behçet s disease: parenchymal , non-parenchymal. 2 types of neuro-behçet s disease occur in same person. suggested pathogenesis of 2 types different.[3] statistics indicate approximately 75% (772 of 1031) bd patients advanced parenchymal nbd while 17.7% (183 of 1031) of bd patients advanced non-parenchymal nbd. remaining 7.3% not able categorized.


parenchymal

if 1 experiences parenchymal neuro-behçet s disease, meningoencephalitis, inflammation of brain, occurs. target areas of parenchymal nbd include brainstem, spinal cord, , cerebral regions. hard determine affected area because patients asymptomatic.


non-parenchymal

in non-parenchymal nbd, vascular complications such cerebral venous thrombosis occurs. other distinct characteristics include intracranial aneurysm , extracranial aneurysm. in cases, veins more affected arteries. venous sinus thrombosis frequent vascular manifestation in nbd followed cortical cerebral veins thrombosis. on other hand, thrombosis , aneurysms of large cerebral arteries reported.


others

peripheral nervous system involvement reported (~0.8%). in case, guillain–barré syndrome, sensorimotor neuropathy, mononeuritis multiplex, autonomic neuropathy, , subclinical nerve-conduction abnormalities observed.


some of syndromes not common recognized relation nbd such acute meningeal syndrome, tumor-like neuro-behçet s disease, psychiatric symptoms , optic neuropathy.
