the first station on site opened on 5 may 1840. known leicester, becoming leicester campbell street on 1 june 1867, , leicester london road 12 june 1892. replaced in 1894 new station, called leicester london road. following closure of central on 5 may 1969, station renamed leicester.


besides london road , central, city of leicester served belgrave road, humberstone road , west bridge railway stations.
