history

the oldest deed proving lensahn’s existence dates 1222. purchase agreement mentioned name linsane , rotbertus de linsane witness. name of place of slavic origin , means „resident of untilled new land“. attempts derive name lower saxon language not establish. older name linsane should denote linseed field. in 1245 counts of schauenburg , holstein started building brick gothic village church. in 1440 eggert von heesten became first documented owner of lensahn. ten years later in 1450 hartwig von buchwald purchased manor lensahn, followed mathias von ratlau in 1460.

the church chronicles mention plague epidemics. confirm steering towards lutheranism since 1542: protestant reformation in lensahn duchies counted 36 yards, including wendisch-lensahn , beschendorf.

thirty years war

in 1622 bell petrus founded. still tolls in church tower. imperial forces led tilly looted , devastated lensahn in 1628. in 1633 lensahn got new owner, detlef ratlow zu lensahn. swedish forces infested lensahn again in 1643.

18th century

a billeting during great northern war (1700-1721) had no negative impact on little village.

st. katharinen

the 1760 officiating pastor hartmann made lensahn wedding paradise in holstein. advertised introduction of potato. 1769 grand duke family became owners of koselau, sebent, lübbersdorf, kuhof, kremsdorf, bollbrügge, sütel und sievershagen (so-called „younger entailed estates“). in 1795 duke peter frederick louis let found activity , industry schools (handiwork lessons young women) in lensahn , beschendorf. preparation discharge of serfdom taught in practical skills spinning, knitting, darning, sewing etc.

in 1798 end of serfdom pastor petersen founded Ökonomische lesegesellschaft, society acquisition of agricultural literature. farriers became leaseholders , got demise charters ruling rights , duties.

19th century

in 1828 wagrischer landwirtschaftlicher verein (wagrian agricultural society) founded. became schleswig-holsteinischer landwirtschaftlicher generalverein in 1834. in 1832-1848 building causeway eutin lensahn encouraged. during years of revolution 1848/1849 schleswig-holstein revolted against danish government, comradeship in arms formed in lensahn. not until austro-prussian war 1867 duchies schleswig , holstein incorporated kingdom of prussia. introduction of general prussian conscription of 3 years led increased emigration usa. in 1890 volunteer fire department lensahn (freiwillige feuerwehr lensahn) founded.

20th century

the sports club turn- und sportverein tsv lensahn von 1924 e.v. founded in 1924. during world war ii preliminary last annual general assembly took place in 1940.

1945 lensahn arms factories reichsgetreidehalle , adjacent beet slices factory passing place of gema (communication medium experimental command kiel/pelzerhaken, gema factories berlin) dissolved. in june 1945 mechanische werkstätten lensahn (mwl) company founded, later willisen-apparatebau gesellschaft (wilag) successor company (e. g. production of radios, since 1946 in buildings @ grüner hirsch).

in 1946 tsv lensahn von 1924 e.v. founded again.

after wilag’s bankruptcy in 1949 greiling-zigarettenfabrik took on wilag’s factory building under construction , produced cigarettes @ grüner hirsch. @ same place opal’s production of tights followed. after transcodan (since 1984 codan) began producing , distributing disposable medical transfer systems @ grüner hirsch.

the tennisclub blau-gold lensahn formed in 1949.

on 1. september 1950 kreisfeuerwehrverband ostholstein brought feuerwehrtechnische zentrale service.
