on october 4, 2009 confirmed horner compete team radioshack in next 2 seasons. in 1 of strongest european campaigns, horner garnered first overall @ tour of basque country, including stage win in critical 6th stage individual time trial, defeating overall threat alejandro valverde. horner achieved several top 10 placings in spring classics of la flèche wallonne, liège–bastogne–liège , amstel gold race. , radioshack teammates did @ tour of california, horner putting on particularly strong performance in last stage of race member of final breakaway @ thousand oaks. horner finished fourth overall, 64 seconds behind winner michael rogers, , 39 seconds behind teammate levi leipheimer in overall time. form resulted in 9th place overall @ tour de france, first-placed american rider, in spite of dedicating himself in first stages supporting captain lance armstrong.
