cotton began presenting career in 1996, @ age of 15, morning gmtv children s programme disney club, after winning competition young talent present show. after, cotton continued show , replacement diggit. left in 2000, concentrate on other projects citv, including draw own toons , mouse, aimed @ encouraging children use computers.

cotton joined cbbc in 2001 present children s science programme eureka tv. 2001 until 2003, presented finger tips, arts , crafts programme children, co-presented stephen mulhern. later co-presented on cbbc s sunday morning show, smile , on saturday show. has made appearances in cbbc show in america, alongside friend , fellow presenter reggie yates.

in 2006, cotton presented second series of love island patrick kielty on itv, taking on kelly brook.

in 2007, took on ben shephard host of x factor spin-off programme, xtra factor on itv2. presented 1 series before resigning work in america. replaced following series holly willoughby. presented x factor: interactive dvd game in 2007.

starting on 5 september 2007, cotton co-hosted holly & fearne go dating, dating programme alongside holly willoughby itv2. show saw them try find dates lonely singletons.

since 2008, cotton has appeared team captain on itv2 comedy panel show celebrity juice alongside host keith lemon , fellow team captain holly willoughby. cotton took short break programme in 2013 whilst on maternity leave , during ninth series, kelly brook stood in her.

she presented isle of wight festival 2009 on itv2 alongside rufus hound.

since 2009, cotton has hosted fearne and... on itv2. in 2012, cotton hosted nation s favourite number 1 single, three-part series, revealing britain s favourite no. 1 single. since 2016, cotton has co-presented fearne & gok: off rails, alongside gok wan itvbe. in march 2017, cotton guest presented 5 episodes of itv breakfast s lorraine programme.

in 2003, cotton moved on mainstream broadcasting. along simon grant (her co-presenter saturday show) presented spin-off show top of pops: saturday (later renamed top of pops: reloaded) year. in 2004, moved work alongside reggie yates on main programme, top of pops (the flagship chartshow bbc) becoming 1 of last regular presenters programme, ended in july 2006. due other commitments, unable present final show itself, appearing instead in short film shown @ head of show, in made personal farewells. cotton , yates presented one-off christmas , new year specials in both 2008 , 2009, comic relief special in 2009.

in june 2012, cotton 1 of bbc s presenters coverage of thames diamond jubilee pageant. cotton guest presented 1 show on bbc 1 2 nights in november 2013, 2 nights in february 2014, 1 night in march 2014 , 1 night in march 2016.

on 17 march 2007, she, along terry wogan, hosted making mind 2007, show decide song uk sent eurovision song contest 2007 in helsinki, finland. on night, after final sing-off between 2 remaining acts, wogan , cotton simultaneously announced different winners. since wogan more experienced presenter, assumed right. in fact, wogan had accidentally announced wrong artist, cyndi, winner. cotton had persist in repeating correct name until confusion resolved. group scooch proclaimed correct winner came second bottom in main competition, avoiding nil points. cotton presented united kingdom s votes @ show itself, held in helsinki, finland on 12 may 2007.
