nfl game telecasts

prior 2012 season, nfl network aired live primetime games on thursdays beginning in mid-november. starting 2012 season, network began televising 1 live thursday night game each week weeks 2 through 15 (excluding thanksgiving day), 1 live saturday night game during week 16. result of addition of these games, every nfl team appears in @ least 1 game on either nfl network s thursday night football, thanksgiving day game or in season-opening kickoff game each season (the season opener falls on thursday prior week 1 , televised on nbc, while thanksgiving day tripleheader games air on cbs, fox , nbc). games broadcast espn s monday night football, nfl network telecasts aired on designated broadcast television station in primary markets of participating teams, although stations in home team s market carry if televised game sells out remaining available tickets 72 hours prior game s start time.

when thursday night football premiered, veteran television announcer bryant gumbel served play-by-play announcer, former fox , current nbc analyst cris collinsworth serving color commentator broadcasts. collinsworth won sports emmy best game analyst work on nfl network telecasts. dick vermeil replaced collinsworth 2 games in 2006; marshall faulk , deion sanders replaced collinsworth when needed in 2007.

in august 2007, network televised pro football hall of fame game between pittsburgh steelers , new orleans saints nbc opted cover year s preseason game in china, later canceled. 2007 schedule began on november 22 (thanksgiving night), game between indianapolis colts , atlanta falcons @ georgia dome in atlanta. gumbel , collinsworth returned booth announcers.

preseason coverage

nfl network held broadcast rights revived arena football league 2010 2012. starting 2010 season, network broadcast weekly friday night football game each week during regular season , playoff games @ 8:00 p.m. eastern time march august, in addition rights playoff games , arenabowl. nfl stated unlike when nfl last showed interest in arena football, there no attempts buy league. broadcasters games included kurt warner, tom waddle, paul burmeister, fran charles, charles davis , ari wolfe.

canadian football league

on july 1, 2010, nfl network began airing live canadian football league games simulcast canadian sports network tsn. nfl network aired league s thursday games, 3 saturday games during month of july, , friday night games beginning in september (after arenabowl xxiii). nfl network did not air cfl games during august carried heavy amount of nfl preseason game broadcasts. in addition, nfl network did not carry playoff games, including grey cup championship, games played on sundays opposite nfl regular season games. games instead broadcast on espn3 online service (espn owns 20% interest in tsn, in joint venture majority parent bell media). on may 25, 2012, nfl network announced not renew contract cfl; package subsequently acquired nbc sports network, espn networks.
