the ordnance qf 20 pounder upgraded during production , service, , many vehicles fitted later 20 pounder featuring symmetrical fume extractor mid-barrel. without fume extractor dubbed charioteer viia or model while upgrade named charioteer viib or model b.


in jordanian army use vehicle altered upgraded electrically-driven turret traverse motors, , larger commander s cupola mounting .50 calibre machine gun. these traverse-motors driven separate electrical supply. different radio equipment fitted.


beyond original requirement, further up-gunning attempted. single vehicle upgraded royal ordnance l7 105mm gun trials in 1969. intended export, , did not enter service. gun similar in appearance , based on original, can distinguished offset fume extractor (larger @ top). vehicle survives @ east of england tank museum.
