in 2009, bearcats made fifth consecutive national title appearance. no ncaa team in division has ever done that. bearcats, ranked #2 going playoffs, received first round bye. in second round avenged loss of season defeating abilene christian. in closest game of playoffs defeated central washington university (ranked #1 @ time) in quarterfinals rallying in second half , blocking central washington point in closing seconds. in semifinals defeated california university of pennsylvania qualify third meeting in finals grand valley.
