the concentration of wealth in butte due mining history resulted in unique , ornate architectural features amongst homes , buildings, particularly throughout uptown section of butte. uptown, named after steep streets, located on hillside on northwestern edge of town , characterized abundance of lavish victorian homes , queen anne style cottages built in late-nineteenth century. several of butte s painted ladies -homes featured in 1987 book daughters of painted ladies elizabeth pomada. butte-silver bow county has established urban revitalization agency works improve building façades enhance , promote architectural resources of historic uptown butte. in 2017, television pilot titled butteification aired on hgtv, focused on couple restoring victorian home in butte.
