lt. nara burns (lisa ann beley) least experienced member of team, parents died during neosapien assault on venus. relationship marsala recurring theme in series. after marsh s promotion, burns becomes new squad leader.
lt. margaret maggie weston (teryl rothery) field repair specialist of squad. introvert , loner, has hidden crush on alec deleon.
sgt. rita torres (janyse jaud). second in command of able squad , perfect soldier, juxtaposed wolf bronsky. has soft spot children , harbors intense hatred towards pirate clans.
alec deleon (john payne) intelligence , communication specialist. of french origin, intelligent , well-educated, making him j.t. marsh s right-hand man.
wolf bronsky (michael donovan) longest serving trooper in able squad, crack-shot , slob. despite appearance, has heart of gold, knowledge of arts , romantic person.
kaz takagi (michael benyaer) other rookie of team, besides nara burns, respects fellow members causes them trouble. regards bronsky mentor, due consequences discipline.
marsala (garry chalk), 1 of few neosapiens serving in exofleet, complex character, makes insightful comments on situation @ hand. on time, develops deep emotional attachment nara burns. throughout of series, seen stoic, not getting punchlines of jokes , remaining calm when provoked.

while main focus of show on able squad, individual episodes , story arcs dedicated other characters well. example, c5 jumptroop squadron, several homeworlds resistance cells, prominent pirates, , high-ranking neosapien officers given screen time.
