while teams not participate in same conference, teams multiple sports face each other annually, strongest part of rivalry lying men s basketball. both teams met 50th time in 2010. first match-up february 23, 1957 in siena defeated albany 75–66 @ albany. after twenty years, series ended on february 3, 1977 62–49 albany victory.

all games since 2001 have taken place in times union center, officially making home game siena. since 2001, game has averaged attendance on 10,000 annual match-up. in 2015, under new contract, announced rivalry moved sefcu arena during 2016–2017 season , part of tournament during 2017–18 season.

in men s basketball, has been similar situation. while albany has had more historical success overall in ncaa s since 2000, had lost stony brook in 3 straight america east tournament games (2010, 2011, 2012). in 2012, great danes, #4 seed in tournament, knocked off seawolves, #1 seed, in quarterfinals end streak. in 2014 , 2015 both teams meet in back-to-back championship games, 2014 in stony brook , 2015 in albany, albany winning both games in last minute.

baseball has seen moments. ualbany eliminated stony brook in 2011 ae tournament, though stony brook swept them in 4 straight games of regular season. in 2010, stony brook defeated ualbany in america east championship. in 2012, stony brook defeated great danes in 3 out of 4 regular season match-ups in memorable run college world series.
