the show purportedly cancelled after 52 episodes because @ time, many independent production companies being taken on larger networks, wanted produce own content. exosquad moved poor time slots, such 4 a.m., until ratings no longer sufficient sustain it. final episode detailed post-war political , social climate prevalent in exosquad universe, , closed j.t. marsh engaging group of alien space vessels, exact nature explained in third season or feature movie. michael edens later remarked staff planned aliens insectoid , pirates dark matter, dr. ketzer s experiments, , unactivated clone of phaeton have played great role in fighting them. idea of movie based on exosquad being promoted executive producer jeff segal, , planned expand fictional universe spin-off series, codenamed exo-pirates. both initiatives scrapped cancellation of third season.
