only side chamber north ( fa ) finished, work on second 1 ( fb ) begun when work stopped. past room , running along same axis corridor 3 further rooms ( g , h , ), first 2 of have vaulted ceilings. 1 of these 2 final vaulted chambers intended burial chamber.


the tomb located on main path, close entrance valley.


what tomb decoration survives can found along length , flanking gates on either end of corridor b. these show rameses iii followed unnamed prince, attended various gods , goddesses. thought more decoration once existed, since karl lepsius noted traces of paint on vaulted chambers , mentions cartouches , images of ramesses iii in first corridor when visited tomb in 1840s.


there evidence in byzantine period tomb used christian chapel.


though open since ancient times, tomb excavated in 1912 archeologist harry burton, funded wealthy american lawyer theodore m. davis. 1 of last excavations funded davis, , no report of excavation work published.
