evans hall anchors southern end of north oval , 1 of oldest buildings on campus


evans tenure university president marked notable achievements. 1 of important of these construction of third administration building. also, evans adhered since-fired vernon louis parrington s suggestion of using collegiate gothic architectural style on campus. administration building built during tenure, classic example of architectural style of campus, later renamed in evan s honor. separation of campus began during evan s stay well. college of fine arts, college of engineering, , college of arts , sciences started between 1908 , 1911. also, school of law established during tenure.


after retirement in 1911, once again became pastor, time in church in santa barbara, california. died november 30, 1929, of stroke of apoplexy.


many people lost confidence in new state university after oklahoma government fired beloved president boyd. because of this, 1,500 students went out-of-state universities on next few years. following dr. boyd s dismissal in 1908, campus enrollment declined 20% , declined 11% between 1910 , 1911.
