marv (mickey rourke) regains consciousness on highway overlooking projects, surrounded several dead young men , crashed police car, , no memory of how got there. retraces steps, recalling since s saturday, watched nancy callahan (jessica alba) dance @ kadie s saloon. stepping outside, encounters 4 rich frat boys burning homeless man alive. when marv intervenes, leader of frat boys shoots him in arm, calling him bernini boy, marv mishears bernie. flee; marv follows, stealing police car on way, crashes car, leading blackout , memory loss. follows 2 surviving frat boys projects, neighborhood grew up. assistance of deadly residents lurking in shadows, dispatches frat boys. questions leader being called bernini boy , learns brand of coat wearing. after slitting boy s throat, considers coat , realizes can t remember how acquired it.

long bad night (part i)

johnny (joseph gordon levitt), cocky young gambler, arrives in sin city , heads kadie s place, hits jackpot on multiple slot machines. taking young waitress, marcie (julia garner), him luck charm, buys backroom poker game led all-powerful senator roark (powers boothe). johnny repeatedly wins in high-stakes game, , cleans senator out. 1 other player, corrupt police lieutenant liebowitz (jude ciccolella), warns him flee city, instead johnny takes marcie out night on town. walks home when roark s goons attack him. fights them off , tells marcie meet him @ hotel before escorted senator s waiting limousine. in payment humiliation suffered @ card game, roark takes money , uses pair of pliers break fingers of johnny s playing hand. toss him car, , senator shoots johnny in leg. roark reveals recognized johnny illegitimate son. however, remarks considered dead son roark jr. flesh , blood. leaves johnny alive, preferring let him suffer, , johnny swears revenge.

years before big fat kill , dwight mccarthy (josh brolin) attempts put violent past behind him, working private detective , leading life of complete sobriety, struggling daily refuse inner demons. after saving life of sally (juno temple), hooker murdered businessman lover (ray liotta), receives unexpected phone call former lover, ava lord (eva green), left dwight 4 years prior wealthy tycoon, damien lord (marton csokas). begs him meet @ kadie s saloon, , despite embittered feelings, agrees. when ava arrives, begs forgiveness leaving him, , implies afraid life before massive chauffeur, manute (dennis haysbert), arrives escort home. unable out of mind, dwight sneaks damien lord s estate, observes ava swimming, caught , beaten. dwight returned home, nude ava waits him. tries throw out, can t resist , make love. tells him damien , manute torture physically , mentally, , knows damien kill soon. manute arrives , viciously beats naked dwight, sending him out window single punch.

determined rescue ava, dwight recruits marv him, , mount assault on lord s compound. marv attacks manute, putting him in traction , tearing out eye. dwight confronts damien lord, denies ava s accusations, , enraged dwight beats him death. reacts in horror, ava appears , shoots dwight several times, taunting him , thanking him helping murder husband , take on fortune. shoots him in face , forces him fall out of window, marv rescues him , takes him old town. dwight s old flame, gail (rosario dawson), recognizes him , saves life. of gail , deadly assassin miho (jamie chung), dwight undergoes reconstructive surgery on face , plots revenge.

meanwhile, 2 detectives, mort (christopher meloni) , bob (jeremy piven), investigate damien s death. ava claims dwight obsessive ex-lover, , killed husband in jealous rage. bob skeptical ava seduces mort, believes every word. begin affair , ava pressures him find , kill dwight. when mort, obsessed ava, attempts track dwight down in old town (an action break truce between police , prostitutes), bob attempts stop him. enraged mort shoots bob in face, commits suicide afterward. out of options, ava reluctantly partners mob boss wallenquist (stacy keach).

dwight (with reconstructed new face), accompanied gail , miho, poses wallenquist s man texas. inside ava s estate, however, manute sees past new face , captures dwight. gail , miho strike dwight s car, , dwight shoots manute hidden .45 had left sleeve. 6 bullets fail kill him, , manute aims shakily @ dwight ava unexpectedly grabs 1 of manute s guns, shooting manute several times. attempts convince dwight pair her, , pain suffered revealed true intentions, dwight shoots mid-kiss, , dies in arms.

johnny visits unlicensed doctor, kroenig (christopher lloyd), shoots heroin before trading services johnny s last $40 , shoes. realizing left marcie unprotected, johnny rushes hotel finds senator waiting him, along marcie s dismembered head , hands. again, senator lets him go. intent on taking down roark, johnny scrounges dollar sympathetic waitress (lady gaga) uses regain enough money playing slots buy way roark s game following night. playing card shark s con, johnny folds first few hands, allowing roark taunt him dead mother. once again cons roark going in, reveals winning hand. johnny taunts father, reminding him tonight s story of how same man beat him twice follow him rest of life. vengeance completed, johnny smiles resignedly, single tear running down face roark shoots him in head, commanding men rid of body.

nancy s last dance

four years after yellow bastard , nancy callahan in deep depression on john hartigan s death. obsessed getting revenge on senator roark having driven hartigan kill himself. wallows in despair, ghost of hartigan (bruce willis) watches on her, unable reach still attempting help. on same night johnny joins backroom poker game, nancy attempts shoot roark stage of kadie s, can t bring herself pull trigger.

nancy hallucinates visit roark, , shortly thereafter cuts hair , smashes mirror, using shards cut face. decides marv kill roark showing him scars , making him believe roark responsible. step out of club, meet motorcycle gang there shoot place. marv kills 2 leaves leader nancy finish off. pair mount assault on roark s compound: marv slaughters roark s bodyguards while nancy picks off guards crossbow. marv wounded, nancy continues on alone confront roark. roark shoots first in side, leg, , finish off. suddenly, hartigan s ghost appears in mirror—startling roark long enough nancy recover , kill him.
