musical career

for next 5 years worked odd jobs throughout nashville, landing songwriting deal , co-writing album tracks david kersh. while working @ restaurant, discovered agent of newly formed nashville division of virgin records, , signed recording deal label in 2000.

2000-2002: play loud

cagle s first album, play loud, issued in mid-2000. serving lead-off single love goes on , on , reached peak of number 15 on billboard hot country singles & tracks (now hot country songs) charts, while laredo , follow-up, became first top ten hit in mid-2001. after virgin closed in 2001, album re-issued on capitol records breathe in, breathe out (which 1 of songs had written david kersh in late 1990s) added bonus track. b-side, country grace of god, fourth , final single album. breathe in, breathe out became number 1 hit in 2002. end of year, play loud had been certified gold in united states.

2003-2004: chris cagle

capitol released cagle s second album, chris cagle, in middle of 2003. second consecutive gold album, produced top 5 singles beautiful day , chicks dig , number 39-peaking d lying .

in 2003, cagle performed don t ask me no questions blue collar comedy tour: movie soundtrack, plays during end credits of film.

in 2004, cagle diagnosed multiple anomalies on vocal cords, including polyp, lesion, vocal fold cyst, , granuloma. diagnosis forced cagle cancel twenty appearances year, including opening dates rascal flatts. ordered sixty days of vocal rest, although did not sing 3 months after diagnosis.

2005-2006: anywhere here

after vocal recovery, cagle began work on third studio album, anywhere here, released in 2005. miss me baby served album s first single, reaching peak of 12 on country music charts. other 2 singles — wal-mart parking lot , title track, had been single brice long in 2005 — both failed enter top 40.

in august 2006, nashville judge ordered cagle pay approximately $737,000 former manager mark hybner, whom chris had sued in 2004 in effort void management , publishing deals had signed in 1999.

2007-2010: life s been country song , best of chris cagle

his eleventh single, kinda gone , released country radio in late 2007. peaking @ number 3, lead-off single fourth studio album life s been country song, released on february 19, 2008. second single album, no love songs , released in may; debuted , peaked @ number 53 on billboard hot country songs chart week of may 24, 2008. never ever gone did not chart, , cagle parted ways capitol nashville year s end. label released greatest hits album in 2010 titled best of chris cagle.

2010-2013: in saddle

in 2010, cagle signed bigger picture music group. released new single, got country on , on june 28, 2011. song became cagle s first top 20 country hit since kinda gone . first album label, in saddle, released on june 26, 2012. album produced 2 more singles, let there cowgirls , dance baby dance . bigger picture music group became defunct in 2013. in october 2015, cagle announced retirement country music.
