gorky park, located @ krymsky val (ru) , situated across moskva river park kultury metro station, opened in 1928. park followed plan of konstantin melnikov, world-famous soviet avant-garde , constructivist architect, , amalgamated extensive gardens of old golitsyn hospital (ru) , of neskuchny palace, covering area of 300 acres (120 ha) along river. history of neskuchny garden can traced 1753, when emerged in area between kaluzhskaya zastava , trubetskoy moskva river-side estate. neighboring area neskuchny garden, krymsky val neskuchny garden, received little attention right until 1920s. covered park gardens, meadows , vegetable gardens belonging owners of neighboring estates. formed wasteland end of 19th century, , served waste heap.

on 15 march 1928 resolution of presidium of moscow council, agricultural , handicraft industries exhibition enlarged , transformed central park of culture , leisure — country’s first park of kind, referred outdoor cultural enterprise . in 1932 park named after m.a. gorky. idea of need central park of culture , leisure in moscow arose in late 1920s in relation moscow s reconstruction notions of socialist city of future .
