cullasaja falls waterfall in southwestern north carolina west of franklin. waterfall located on cullasaja river in nantahala national forest , part of mountain waters scenic byway. cullasaja comes cherokee word meaning honey locust place. falls last major waterfall on cullasaja river. falls long cascade on course of 0.2 miles (300 m). height of falls given 200 ft (61 m) in kevin adams book, north carolina waterfalls , 250 ft (77 m) ncwaterfalls.com. however, google earth gives height (based on elevation of water @ top of falls , elevation of plunge pool @ bottom of falls) of 137 ft (42 m). easy catch glimpse of falls drive by; however, getting better view of falls not easy. falls located beside of series of blind curves on highway 64 sheer rock cliffs above , below road. there 1 small pull-off near falls, walking on road puts visitors in danger of being hit passing vehicle.

dry falls, known upper cullasaja falls, 65-foot (20.1 m) waterfall located in nantahala national forest, northwest of highlands, north carolina. dry falls flows on cullasaja river through nantahala national forest. part of series of waterfalls on 8.7-mile (14.0 km) stretch of river ends cullasaja falls. dry falls flows on overhanging bluff allows visitors walk under falls , remain relatively dry when waterflow low, hence name. visitors wet if waterflow high. falls has been called dry falls long time, has gone few other names, including high falls, pitcher falls, , cullasaja falls. dry falls located on side of u.s. highway 64 15.7 miles (25 km) southeast of franklin, north carolina , 3.1 miles (5 km) north of highlands, north carolina. there parking area on side of road, visitors can park before walking short path stairs falls. significant improvements parking area , trail completed united states forest service in 2009.
bridal veil falls
bridal veil falls 45-foot (20.1 m) waterfall located in nantahala national forest, southeast of franklin. short curve of roadway located behind falls, has distinction of being waterfall in state 1 can drive vehicle under. bridal veil falls flows on tributary of cullasaja river through nantahala national forest. falls flows on overhanging bluff allows visitors walk behind falls , remain dry when waterflow low. during periods of drought, stream may dry up, though visitors wet if waterflow moderate or high. avoid this, stay in vehicle , drive behind falls. bridal veil falls located on side of u.s. highway 64 16.5 miles (27 km) southeast of franklin , 2.3 miles (4 km) north of highlands. highway 64 used curve of roadway behind falls exclusively traffic went behind them; however, caused problems icing of roadway during freezing weather, , hwy. 64 has been re-routed around front of falls since. there parking area on side of road, visitors can park , view falls well. in 2003, massive boulder slid off left side of falls, blocking side of drive-under completely. however, in july 2007, boulder removed local developer. road under falls free of obstruction.

quarry falls small waterfall (or perhaps large rapid in high water) located beside hwy. 64 southeast of franklin, north carolina. known locals bust butt, best known large, deep pool @ bottom , popular place swimming during warm weather.
