in 1921, zawieyski made debut poems (strzępy) under pseudonym konar-nowicki. in 1926, graduated school of drama in kraków. 1926 1928, actor @ reduta theatre , editor of magazine teatr ludowy. 1929 1931, staying in france, worked instructor of polonia amateur drama groups. after returning poland, until 1939, worked director of instytut teatrów ludowych (institute folklore theaters), actor , literary manager of ataneum theatre. in youth, zawieyski had been atheist , did not convert catholicism until 1930s.


after world war ii, zawieyski worked lecturer @ catholic university of lublin (katolicki uniwersytet lubelski, kul). co-founded klub inteligencji katolickiej, president until 1957. member of editorial boards of tygodnik powszechny (from 1946 until 1952, , again 1956) , znak (1946–1951 , 1957). in 1949, awarded polish episcopate. in 1957–1969, member of sejm of people s republic of poland. in 1957–1968, member of polish council of state.


zawieyski homosexual. in 1933 met stanisław trębaczkiewicz. fell in love , lived until zawieyski s tragic death in 1969. both, in accordance wishes, buried in same grave in laski cemetery near warsaw.
