cloning of yap1 gene facilitated identification of modular protein domain, known ww domain. 2 splice isoforms of yap1 gene product identified, named yap1-1 , yap1-2, differed presence of 38 amino acids encoded ww domain. apart ww domain, modular structure of yap1 contains proline-rich region @ amino terminus, followed tid (tead transcription factor interacting domain). next, following single ww domain, present in yap1-1 isoform, , 2 ww domains, present in yap1-2 isoform, there sh3-bm (src homology 3 binding motif). following sh3-bm tad (transcription activation domain) , pdz domain-binding motif (pdz-bm) (figure 1).
