the women s basketball team played in 6 straight aiaw basketball tournament final fours 1972-1977, 5 straight finals 1972-1976. won 3 consecutive national championships 1972 1974. team featured 1970s accomplishments on sportscenter special on march 23, 2008.
on january 26, 1975, immaculata played in first nationally televised women s intercollegiate basketball game. facing maryland @ cole field house, immaculata won 80-48 in game noted more turnovers (70) scoring (56 field goals, 16 free throws).
on february 22, 1975 played in first women’s basketball game ever played in madison square garden. immaculata won 65-61. on january 4, 2015, immaculata , queens college played in maggie dixon classic commemoration of 40th anniversary of first game played between women s basketball teams in madison square garden.

the head coach of women s team 1972-1977, cathy rush, inducted naismith memorial basketball hall of fame in 2008, , women s basketball hall of fame in 2010. 1972–1974 teams announced on april 7, 2014 part of 2014 induction class of naismith hall, , formally inducted team on august 8.
