the candlelight service devin oliver , aubree butts


the women s team formed in 1971 , played first season under susie knause , finished off 10–6 record. coached jason burton entering second year program. team s best season came in 2006–07 under coach denny downing, when team finished off record of 28–9, team not won first (and only) conference title advanced elite 8 in ncaa tournament eliminated clayton state. 2006-07 team remains team in program history make national tournament. in 2014 lady lions lost 2 players (devin oliver , aubree butts) in tragic car accent in paris, texas, candle light service held @ university honor 2 , plaque placed in park in rowlett honor devin oliver (who rowlett high school alumni). since death no player on women s basketball team has worn jersey numbers (15 , 25).
