the amateur radio call sign receiving test use software program called rufzxp generates score each competitor. rufz abbreviation of german word rufzeichen-hören means listening of call signs . in rufzxp program, competitors listen amateur radio call sign sent in morse code , must enter callsign computer keyboard. if competitor types in call sign correctly, score improves , speed @ program sends subsequent call signs increases. if competitor types in call sign incorrectly, score penalized , speed decreases. 1 call sign sent @ time , event continues fixed number of call signs (usually 50). competitors can choose initial speed @ program sends morse code, , winner competitor highest generated score.


the pileup trainer test simulates pileup situation in on-air amateur radio operating numerous stations attempting establish two-way contact 1 particular station @ same time. competition uses software program called morserunner. in morserunner software, more 1 amateur radio call sign sent @ time. each call sign sent in morse code generated @ different audio frequencies , speeds, timed overlap each other. competitors must record many of call signs can during fixed period of time. may choose either recording call signs hand on paper, or typing them in computer keyboard. winner competitor correctly recorded call signs.
