the svedberg laboratory university facility contains gustaf werner cyclotron, used research proton therapy treatment of cancer close cooperation oncology clinic @ uppsala university hospital. such accelerator , gantries costs between $60 million , $100 million, , makes uppsala university hospital 1 of approximately 40 centers in word provide such cancer treatment.

uppsala university children s hospital (swedish: akademiska barnsjukhuset) formed in 1991 merger of departments of paediatrics, paediatric surgery, paediatric orthopaedic surgery , clinical genetics. children s hospital has paediatric oncology department 14 beds , rehabilitation centre called folke bernadotte home 20 beds.

uppsala university hospital has helicopter borne intensive care unit. current equipment eurocopter dauphin n3 equipped 1 bed intensive care unit (2010). helicopter crewed 2 ifr licensed pilots, medical personnel consisting of doctor , nurse both specializing in intensive care , anesthesia. crew members in other specialities brought along, needed mission. helicopter used transports between hospitals in sweden , finland serves uppsala county area helicopter emergency medical care within range of 100 km hospital.


fixed wing intensive care unit

in addition short range mobile intensive care provided helicopter, uppsala university hospital owns bombardier learjet 45. aircraft equipped lifeport , capable of providing long range intensive care transports of 2 patients on stretchers or in incubators. plane crewed 2 pilots , medical personnel in appropriate specialities mission.
